Greater San Antonio’s Trusted Home Services Provider
I Decided To Reinvent The HVAC, Plumbing & Roofing Industry — We Did Just That
A Message From Brandon Rackler, Owner:
At the age of 15, I had already fallen in love with my father's A/C service business. I was fascinated by the work and the intricate details that went into each job. Hot attics were no match for me as I quickly mastered every aspect of installing units.
My enthusiasm for the business only grew and at 18 years old, I decided to forgo school and focus on my future in the A/C business full time. A year later, I married my school sweetheart, Moriah, and we set off on our honeymoon together. Upon returning home, we were met with some devastating news — my parents had sold our beloved business without any warning or prior knowledge.
I was crushed. But I knew that this wasn't the end of my career in A/C services; it was merely a bump in the road to success. I immediately reached out to Jake, one of my best friends since high school who shared an affinity for HVAC systems like me. Together we started San Antonio’s Best which specialized in subcontracting services locally for all sorts of air conditioning installations.
We worked tirelessly over long hours and after just 6 months our hard work paid off — we had established enough trust within local businesses that word about San Antonio’s Best spread like wildfire amongst them! Soon enough, we found ourselves flooded with requests from both residential & commercial customers alike looking to have HVAC-related tasks completed efficiently & reliably — just what we were promising!
My dad took some time off and enjoyed retirement. But after seeing how much passion my partner and I had for the HVAC industry, he realized how much he missed this line of work. So we joined forces to help him start another A/C business, one that quickly became the biggest in the area
With 21 years of experience under my belt working at my father’s company, I had learned how to do all aspects of the business from running service calls, handling customer service and running operations from top to bottom as General Manager & Vice President.
I Knew It Was Time For A Change
Moriah and I were lovingly raising our four energetic boys. Life was treating us well. I was climbing the ladder of success, acquiring our dream home, driving fancy cars, and buying impressive properties. Yet, amid all the prosperity, I couldn't shake the feeling of unfulfillment, sensing a vital piece was missing from my life's puzzle.
The industry that I fell in love with over 20 years ago seemed to be unraveling at the seams. Hindered by long hours, low wages, and broken homes, I noticed industry workers often found themselves drained and unhappy, leading to mistakes, misdiagnoses, and subpar services. Not to mention jobs were hurriedly ticked off the list, amplifying the chaos.
I felt many aspects of the HVAC industry were out of date and, to be frank, not in the homeowner's best interest. Although I had worked hard to work my way up the ranks as a master air conditioner technician , I’m not the type of person to sit back and let unprofessional practices, and untrained techs become the new “normal”.
I also noticed that the home service industry was suffering from a major workforce shortage, lacking qualified electricians, plumbers and HVAC technicians. The challenge of recruiting younger people to our sector only exacerbated the problem; many had grown up with overworked parents who they wished not to emulate in their own lives.
To address these difficulties, I yearned to build a business which would blend traditional craftsmanship qualities from older generations with modern aspiring values that young workers can get excited about — changing an entire industry for good!
Desperate for a solution, I turned to a higher power and sought divine guidance, hoping to find the missing piece to my life's conundrum and bring about much-needed change.
Taking The Leap Of Faith
After many hours of contemplation and asking God for answers, it eventually became crystal clear what I needed to do. I hastily quit my job as the Vice President of my current job and instantly started reaching out to past team members who also had moved on to pursue their own entrepreneurial paths that better fit their family life.
By joining forces with my long-time friends and work associates Jesse Hernandez, Jason Balderas, and Jake Pettit, The Problem Solvers were born. These were not only people I trust, but also people who I consider family.
Sharing my vision with like-minded individuals only fueled my ambitions for making changes in an industry that very much needed it. So, I started from scratch. I bought a van and, with my son, we started taking on jobs for friends and neighbors. In a tight-knit community such as the one I grew up in, word spreads quickly.
Once folks found out I had started my own business with other reputable members of the community, combined with the impeccable results we were already providing, our schedules started to fill up!
I’ve worked in every position in the HVAC world, from a service technician all the way up to Vice President, and have learned that I love being in a support role to give other people the opportunity to come from seemingly nothing and make a name for themselves.
We want to help people grow, buy their first home, make their dreams into a reality, and, above all, better our communities at every given chance.
